Card Impressions

Card Impressions Everyone judges a business by first impressions. Very often first impressions come in the mail. Or through a chat with a businessperson, you may also find that your first contact is a card, which is found on a local notice board or even in the local supermarket.

Think about how often have you done it yourself? Made a first judgement about a possible supplier, based on the written communications they send you. Are their letters and leaflets professionally printed on good quality, even glossy, paper? Do they use embossed and letter headed paper or just plain white, even recycled paper? Do they have a graphic logo, or a tacky one that a teenager has designed on a home PC or worse still just used the standard clip art in their computers? Is the envelope printed with the company name, or do their letters arrive in thin and nondescript standard window envelopes?

One of the main business essentials in the business world is to appear prosperous; even if the money is all borrowed others don’t know that it is. Without the appearance of prosperity, and professionalism forget the idea of finding customers or having your cards passed onto others as most these will just end up in the trash and costing you and your business money.

Never use cheap paper, cheap envelopes and Do It Yourself headed paper as they are sure signs of a small company that cannot afford better so maybe they cannot afford to supply there service any better, well that would be my thoughts anyway. Would you want to buy from this company, when there seems every chance that they will go bust and you lose your deposit I know I wouldn’t.

Your Business stationery also needs to appear professionally designed and printed. The paper needs to be 100gsm rather than the cheaper 60 or 80gsm that is often used. Inlaid paper gives a better impression yet again. If you cannot make these looking professional there is a lot of suppliers out there willing to help and the cost is well worth it.

Compliments slips sent out with quotations as well as brochures, which are a small, but normally an appreciated and affordable gesture, a gesture that tells your customers you can afford such trimmings and will be there for them, not like some companies that rush not just there printing but there work

Business cards that are professionally designed stand out a mile from the ones designed by a machine at the gas station or shopping mall or on your home computer if done without enough thinking going into it. Your business card is who you and your business are, these can make or break you.

Letter heads can be printed on an inkjet printer, but the embossed and professionally printed letterhead quotation will get the job every time over the smudgy amateurish do it yourself type of job. People do not just go on price any more, they judge the company by the quality and appearance of its written materials.
