Useful Business Card Design Tips
Your business card is undeniably one of
the most important instruments you will need for your business.
This little card speaks a lot about your own creativity and
skill and hence you need to be careful about it. But does a
good business card mean a flashy, over-the-top business card?
Or should you be subtle? Here are some tips that can help you
design an effective business card for your corporate needs.
Keep it Simple but Prominent
This is the age of being subtle, but without blending in
with the woodwork. Keep your card layout simple. It should not
confuse the reader. The reader should not have to look for
important things like your contact details or email id.
Everything should be present prominently on the card, but it
should not be in-your-face.
Never must you fill any unwanted details on your business
card. Mention only the things that people need to know about
who you are and where they can get you if they want. That’s the
primary purpose of the business card – keep that in mind.
Use your Corporate Colors
If you are tempted to use other colors on your business
card, cease and desist! Your card is an instrument to make your brand
more familiar. Hence, you must use only your corporate
colors, fonts, etc. on it. Do not change anything from
your other material. That’s suicide!
Spread Things about
Many business cards we see today clutter and cramp their
content. Instead of justifying everything on one side of the
card, you’d do better if you spread it out throughout. This way
the reader’s eye could be trained to see the whole of the card
instead of just one corner.
Use Good Quality Material
Nowadays, a lot of materials are being used in designing
cards. You have a choice between various hard paper types and
plastics. It is best to go for something that doesn’t look too
gaudy and is at the same time durable. Look for water-resistant
card materials. They have a tendency to last much longer than
the normal materials used.
